Meet 10 extraordinary women who grace our cover today: Susie King Taylor, Elisabeth Delatour Préval, Shirley Chisholm, Lucille Ball, Amelia Earhart, Emilia Casanova de Villaverde, Ruth Bader Ginsburg, Eva Perón, Florence Griffith Joyner, Rosa Parks. Each of these women has made significant contributions in their respective areas, carving a path that was left to future generations.
Over these 31 days of March, we’ve seen reflection and appreciation. So, as part of an Editor’s Discussion, we identified these 10 women and focused aside on three specific contributors that are in the WordPress community. The editors offer a viewpoint into what their engagement and impact mean in WordPress.
As we celebrate Women’s History Month, they continue to inspire our reason to raise a glass or a cup to the dawn of today. From March 1 to 31, we celebrated Women’s History Month. As it has been commemorated, we’re honoring and rounding up once again the countless contributions women have made to our society, as they are shaping and enhancing the platform that millions of us use today.
Women developers, designers, bloggers, and entrepreneurs have helped to innovate the boundaries of WordPress, turning it into more than just a blogging platform. They have made it a tool when inspired by change, a space to craft storytelling, and a center to make businesses happen.
One such woman is Helen Hou-Sandi, a lead developer of WordPress who has significantly contributed to its core. Hou-Sandi’s work has helped make WordPress accessible and user-friendly to everyone, regardless of their technical abilities.
Another remarkable woman is Mika Epstein, a dedicated contributor to the WordPress support forums. Epstein’s expertise and patience in helping users troubleshoot their WordPress issues have been invaluable to the community.
Then we have women like Rian Rietveld, who brought attention to the importance of accessibility in WordPress, ensuring that the platform is inclusive to all users.
These women, among many others, epitomize the spirit of Women’s History Month. They are not just contributors to WordPress but are reshaping the tech industry, proving that gender is not a barrier in technology.
In honor of Women’s History Month, let’s celebrate these trailblazers and continue to support and empower women in WordPress and the tech industry.
